Free forever, no AI cap published
Writes and queues captions at no cost, indefinitely
The AI Assistant sits in the composer next to the queue, so a caption goes from an idea to a scheduled post without leaving the box you typed it in. It ranks first here for one narrow reason: it is the only page in this set that puts an AI writer inside a permanently free plan and then declines to meter it.
- What it costs
- A fresh load lands on the Yearly toggle, where Essentials read $5 and Team $10 per channel per month, printed as $60 and $120 billed yearly with a save 2 months note. Pressing Monthly changed both figures, to $6 and $12 per channel per month, relabelled Billed monthly. The Free plan is listed as free forever for up to 3 channels and includes 10 scheduled posts per channel, 100 ideas, 1 user account, the AI Assistant, Insights, API access with 1 key and 3,000 requests a month, and the community inbox. Paid tiers carry a 14-day free trial. buffer.com/pricing, read 28 August 2026
- Best for
- Somebody who wants captions written and posted for nothing, on two or three accounts, and who already has the photograph.
Honest limitation
The AI Assistant writes from the prompt you type, not from anything the tool knows about your business, so the brand voice is whatever you remember to describe each time. It makes no images and no video, which leaves the harder half of a post where it was. Pricing is per channel, so the bill grows with every account you add, and the free plan holds 10 scheduled posts per channel and exactly 1 user account. buffer.com/pricing, read 28 August 2026
