A Sprout Social alternative for the local business with no social team
Does a plumber with one Instagram account need a $199-a-seat platform? Sprout Social's pricing page makes every small evaluator ask it: Standard runs $199 per seat a month billed annually, Professional, the tier marked "Most popular", runs $299, and even the new publishing-focused Essentials tier is $79 a seat. Those prices are honest for what Sprout is, a social business-intelligence suite built for staffed teams. SpeedRun Social answers a narrower question, who is making this week's posts, for $49.99 a month, with a free plan instead of a 30-day trial.
Who Sprout builds for, in its own words
Sprout describes itself precisely. On 12 August 2026 its homepage headline read "Where social becomes business intelligence", and the pitch beneath it promised a platform that "turns real-time signals into clear direction for every team". That is who it serves: organizations where social is a staffed function. A team sharing a consolidated inbox, a marketer briefing other departments with sentiment analysis and competitor reports, an agency running unlimited profiles on the Professional tier, an enterprise buyer who needs SSO and white-glove onboarding. Every plan is priced per seat because the seat, a person whose job is social, is the unit Sprout is built around.

Where the two tools part ways
Every Sprout figure below was read off sproutsocial.com/pricing on 12 August 2026. Nothing here comes from a review site or a roundup.
The pricing unit: a seat there, a business here
On 12 August 2026, sproutsocial.com/pricing listed Essentials at $79 per seat a month billed annually, Standard at $199, Professional at $299, Advanced at $399, and Enterprise on request. Per-seat pricing is coherent for a team; it also multiplies. Three people on Professional is $897 a month, our arithmetic, their published rate. SpeedRun charges the business once, at $49.99, $99.99 or $199.99 a month, and nothing quote-only sits above the top tier. A shop with one owner and one part-timer pays the same as a shop with five staff.
Sprout manages the social you have. SpeedRun makes the posts you don't.
Read Sprout's plan descriptions and the work assumed is handling: a consolidated inbox on Standard, message tagging and competitor insights on Professional, AI Assist described as enhancing posts, sentiment analysis on Advanced. All of it presumes the posts and conversations already exist. SpeedRun's job is the step before. It reads your website, builds a Brand Kit, and generates a full week of finished posts per campaign: branded image posts with the headline baked into the image itself, captions written per platform, and a short video. You approve or edit each one; nothing publishes until you do.
A 30-day trial against a free plan
Sprout's pricing page offered "Try Sprout free for 30 days" with no credit card required. On day 31 the per-seat meter starts or the account goes quiet. SpeedRun's free tier is a plan, not a countdown: 300 credits a month, refilled forever, covering 1 free campaign a week of 3 posts, 1 video and 1 cross-post, with no card required. Media made on the free plan carries a watermark, which paid plans remove. You can evaluate for a month, or six, on your own schedule.
Built around one local business, not a cross-functional org
Sprout's Advanced tier is "Built for the challenges of cross-functional teams and workflows"; that quote is its own positioning, read off its pricing page. SpeedRun points the other way: 27 industry pages for trades and local businesses, because a generator has to know what a drain-cleaning post should look like before it makes one. And every post is approval-gated by design. The AI drafts the week; the owner's ten-minute review is the only step that can put anything on the internet.

When Sprout Social is the better pick
Pick Sprout when social is somebody's job title. If a team answers customers all day in a shared inbox, if you need listening, sentiment analysis and competitor reporting to direct decisions beyond a marketing calendar, if you are an agency running unlimited profiles on Professional across many clients, or if procurement wants SSO and white-glove onboarding, that is exactly the platform Sprout built and prices for. SpeedRun does not compete on any of it: there is no consolidated inbox here, no listening, no per-seat collaboration. And if your content already exists and your real problem is running it well at scale, a management console is the right shape of tool, and ours is not.
