A Publer alternative where the free tier generates instead of queues

Publer keeps a free-forever plan for scheduling posts you write. SpeedRun Social keeps a free plan that writes the week for you. Both are free forever; below is what each one actually does with your week, and where Publer is genuinely the better buy.

The same week, run two ways

Feature tables hide the real difference, which is whose labour fills the calendar.

A week inside Publer

Publer's free tier hands you a scheduler and leaves the writing to you. Connect up to three accounts, write or paste your posts, and line them up ten to an account. An AI assistant can help with a caption here and there, but the week is still your typing, and when the queue runs low you write more. That is the honest shape of their free tier: a calendar that rents you room for content you produce, at no cost, forever.

A week inside SpeedRun

There is no queue to fill, because SpeedRun read your website when you signed up. Each week it turns up with the campaign already made: three image posts, a short video and a cross-post, captions written per platform, imagery built from your own brand. Your part is the review queue. Change a line, swap a picture, push a date, approve the rest, and the approved posts publish natively on schedule, on a free plan that also does not expire.

Free-forever tierA free plan, not a trial: one free campaign every week of 3 image posts, 1 short video and 1 cross-post, with the Brand Kit included and 300 credits a month that refill for as long as the account exists. No card is asked for. Media made on the free plan carries a small watermark that paid plans remove. The Free plan was listed as "Free forever" at $0, with 1 user, 1 workspace, 3 social accounts except X, 10 scheduled posts per account, 25 saved drafts and a 24-hour post history.Source: publer.com/plans, checked 18 August 2026
Where a post startsA post starts at your website. SpeedRun turns the site into a Brand Kit, then generates the caption, the image and the video from that kit, so nothing begins with a blank composer or a prompt you have to write yourself.AI features were listed as "AI Assistant: generate engaging content with the power of artificial intelligence" and "AI Post Generator: quickly create engaging social media captions & copy with AI". The Business plan listed "Unlimited AI prompts: generate as much AI-content as you need, both text and images, at no additional cost."Source: publer.com/plans, checked 18 August 2026
Paid ladder$49.99 a month on Starter, or $39.99 a month billed annually. $199.99 a month on Pro, or $159.99 a month billed annually, and nothing quote-only sits above it.Professional and Business had no fixed public list price. The page rendered only "/month" placeholders, with the price computed by an on-page calculator of social accounts and additional members, where every tenth social account and every tenth additional member were stated to be free. Enterprise was listed as "Get a quote".Source: publer.com/plans, checked 18 August 2026
Keeping old posts aliveNo recycle queue exists. SpeedRun makes a new campaign every week instead of resharing an archive. If requeueing a library of proven posts is the workflow you want, count this row for Publer.Recycling was listed as a feature to "recycle and repurpose your top social media content to boost engagement", and the Business plan listed "Spintax-powered post recycling".Source: publer.com, checked 18 August 2026

Every Publer cell above is a quotation read off publer.com on 18 August 2026 and linked back to its page. Publer's Professional and Business tiers print no public fixed price, only an on-page calculator, so those paid figures cannot be copied down and compared directly. Prices, plan contents and platform lists change without notice; open their pricing page before a figure we copied down on one day decides anything for you.

Where Publer is the stronger tool

Anchored to what Publer states on its own pages, checked 18 August 2026. These are the jobs where you should pick them, said plainly rather than hidden in a footnote.

The free plan holds more of your writing

Publer's free tier schedules ten posts per account across three accounts, which is far more than the one campaign a week we generate. If you already write a month of posts by hand and only need a queue to hold and post them, their free plan holds more of your work than ours makes. That is a real reason to pick them, and we will not argue it away.

Your best posts deserve a second run

Recycling, and Spintax-powered recycling on the Business plan, means a strong post keeps earning long after you wrote it. SpeedRun has nothing comparable: we generate a fresh campaign each week and old posts stay wherever they were published. If you own a library worth resurfacing on a schedule, their machinery exists and ours does not.

Networks we do not touch

Their integrations navigation lists Mastodon, Telegram, Threads, Bluesky and WordPress alongside the usual networks. SpeedRun does not publish to most of those. Rather than wave at a roadmap, we will say it plainly: if those niche networks carry real weight for your audience, that is a concrete reason to pick them over us.

Built to scale into an agency

Their Business tier is labelled for SMEs and agencies, and Enterprise is labelled for large organizations. SpeedRun is built for the small business owner and a lean team, not for running dozens of client accounts. If you sell social management to clients, count this row for Publer and save us both the awkward fit.

Questions people ask on the way in

  • Is SpeedRun Social a drop-in Publer replacement?

For the scheduling half, mostly. Both tools hold posts and publish them on a schedule, and both keep a free-forever plan. The difference is what happens before that: Publer expects content from you or its composer assistant, while SpeedRun generates the campaign from your website and photos without a prompt. What we do not replace is their recycle queue or their agency-tier scaling. If either is central to how you work, read the concessions above before switching.

  • Both tools have a free-forever plan. What is the real difference?

Publer's free plan is a scheduler: three social accounts, ten scheduled posts each, except X, no card required, forever. Ours is a generator: one campaign a week of three image posts, one short video and one cross-post, built from your Brand Kit, with credits that refill every month. Their free tier holds more posts you write; ours writes fewer posts for you. Pick whichever labour you would rather pay.

  • What exactly does the free plan include?

One free campaign every week: 3 image posts, 1 short video and 1 cross-post. It comes with the Brand Kit, 300 credits a month that refill every month for as long as you keep the account, and no card requirement. Media made on the free plan carries a small watermark, which paid plans remove.

  • Do I have to write my own posts on the free plan?

No. Setup asks for your website address and pulls your services, colours and photography into a Brand Kit. Every post afterwards is generated from that kit. You can steer the output by editing the kit or any single post, but a blank composer is never the starting point.

  • Does SpeedRun publish to X?

Yes. X is one of the nine places SpeedRun publishes to, alongside Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business Profile and Mailchimp. One honest note for the comparison: Publer's free plan does not connect Twitter or X accounts, so on the free tier this is a gap that runs our way.

  • How current are the Publer figures on this page?

Every figure was read off publer.com's own home and plans pages on 18 August 2026, and each claim links to the page it came from. We do not quote competitor numbers from review sites or roundups. Publer's paid tiers show no fixed price at all, so there is nothing there to misquote. Read their plans page yourself on the day you decide, because that is the only place the real number lives.

Judge it on your own brand

Point it at your website, look at the week it builds, and decide from that. The free plan asks for no card and does not expire.
